Veganism is perceived by most non-vegans as mere food restriction associated with the elimination of animal products. However, more and more people are becoming vegan, and not only because of the food. Vegan cosmetics also come into consideration.

Vegans respect the rights of animals, and refuse to use products or ingredients made from animals, not only when preparing their meal, but also when choosing their clothes or cosmetics. Therefore, vegan cosmetics are becoming increasingly popular among vegans. Veganism is not only a fad of diet lovers, it is becoming a responsible lifestyle for many of us.

There is an increasing amount of restaurants that offer their customers vegan dishes. The number of fashion designers who decided to only produce their models using faux leather and fur are also increasing. At the same time, veganism is connected to the idea that:

Vegan cosmetics that are usually marked with the Vegan Society flower logo VEGAN COSMETICS AND VEGANISM AS A LIFE TREND, implies that the products were not tested on animals and do not contain any animal products. This includes: wax, milk, honey and royal jelly. However, even if all the products ingredients must be listed, the origin of the individual substances – whether they are made from plants or animals - does not have to be mentioned. Therefore, we should look for this logo to be sure that the product we are buying is truly vegan.

According to research, vegan cosmetics are chosen mainly by young girls and women, with almost 60% of them from Slovakia. When choosing their cosmetics, Hungarian and Polish women are also interested whether the product was tested on animals. Many cosmetics companies are trying to comply with this trend and replace animal ingredients with plant ones in their products.

product contents, and they look for a “Vegan” label on the packaging.

THE VEGAN LOGO is a registered trademark, and a symbol of Vegan Society. We use this symbol for our vegan cosmetics Naomi BioCosmetics. The products marked with the Vegan logo ensure that the products were not tested on animals and do not contain any animal substances, or substances acquired by animal breeding, i.e. not of animal origin (e.g. honey, milk, beeswax). Vegan products are made according to the Vegan Animal free Standards.

Another very important certificate that we possess is the: International certificate of Human Cosmetics Standard (HCS)

The Human Cosmetics Standard – HCS is the only worldwide valid certificate being granted to cosmetics companies, whose products (including individual ingredients) are not tested on animals.

Declarations of cosmetics companies (not possessing this certificate) that their products are not tested on animals can often be misleading, and may confuse the consumer society. By means of HCS, the consumer may choose goods that are guaranteed to not be tested on animals. Cosmetics companies possessing the HCS certificate may not test products on animals, nor have such testing performed by other subjects. Beyond this, companies are obliged to keep a fixed date for the end of animal testing, after which the products and their ingredients may not be tested this way (the certificate may only be granted after the fixed date). Observing these conditions is controlled by means of regular audits. HCS certificates are granted in individual countries by ECEAE organisations. In the Slovak Republic, the certification is offered by „Sloboda zvierat“.

Please, do not purchase cosmetics and other goods tested on animals! There are loads of high quality products that are not tested on animals, and the assortment is constantly being expanded.

CPK BIO CERTIFICATE

All NAOMI BioCosmetics® products have acquired the CPK BIO certificateand are certified natural organic cosmetics. These standards for organic and natural cosmetics stem from prestigious international certification Ecocert.

Certified natural organic cosmetics are an upgrade from products containing ecological agricultural raw materials. They must not only obey CPK standards, they must also contain the required amount of raw organic ingredients.

Products marked with CPK and CPK BIO trademarks guarantee that the standards below are met:

• - The products must contain high-quality raw plant materials, including materials from ecological agriculture, through collecting herbs or fruits growing in free nature.
• - The products do not contain paraffin, vaseline, silicone, or other petroleum products.
• - The products do not contain any synthetic, aromatic, preservative, and colouring substances.
• - The products do not contain genetically modified raw materials.
• - The products and raw materials are not tested on animals, nor are from dead animals used (animal collagen and glycerine, spermaceti, mink fat, and other).
• - The products do not contain chemical UV filters, electron carriers, or etoxyled raw materials.
• - The plant collecting is careful, taking into consideration protection of the environment.
• - The producer complies with requirements for ecological waste disposal and environmentally friendly production and packaging.
